- What caused you to get into cannabis?
A couple of years ago, I had to have two separate hip surgeries. At the time, a friend mentioned the therapeutic benefits of cannabis and I was intrigued. Up until that point, I had never considered it, recreationally or otherwise. I tried it and was amazed at how therapeutic it was for me, and how much better the rest of me felt compared to the prescription alternatives.
It wasn’t until my high-stress job had me traveling all over the world (all while I was launching a business on the side!) that I really fell in love with this magical plant. While on the surface it may have looked like I had it all together, I was really struggling within myself to balance my career, my side business, being a community volunteer, a wife, a friend, a sister, an auntie, everything – just like all of the other women out there who are constantly being pulled in so many different directions. I knew I needed to better balance my life, but I also knew that I didn’t want that help from traditional pharmaceuticals.
Cannabis helped me when I needed it the most – it gave me a reprieve from all of the stresses that were fighting for my attention. It guaranteed me a good night’s sleep when I needed it the most, allowing me to feel great the next day so I could tackle the next thing on my to-do list.
2. Why did you choose to create low-dose, artisan cannabis products for women?
Once I realized how helpful cannabis could be for me, I had a very difficult time finding products in the market that would not only meet my needs, but were also aligned with my values. I wanted an organic product that I could trust to have a low dose. But it had to taste delicious, too!
Once I realized a product like that really didn’t exist in the market, I decided to set out and make it. I’m thrilled to be introducing a medical cannabis company focused on products that merge amazing flavors, responsibly-sourced ingredients, and the highest quality cannabis.
3. What impact do you think cannabis will have on women’s health?
Garden Society began as a personal mission to find healthy ways to improve my quality of life. I believe cannabis is a therapeutic product that is a healthier option to alcohol or prescription drugs. It helps relax us, slows our minds to have a better quality of sleep, and be more present in our current environment.
Our mission is to bring safe, enjoyable, and therapeutic medicinal cannabis to modern women. Along the way, we’re out to remove the negative stigmas our society has placed on the use of cannabis in all its forms. Sustainably-farmed and responsibly-made, our products are beautifully designed to improve lives.
4. Now that cannabis is legal in seven states, what do you see for the future of the industry and the benefits of legalization?
We are passionately driven to redefine our industry and to bring a fresh perspective to life with cannabis. The passage of new legalization initiatives provides a platform from which we, as a brand, can help further the momentum of the cannabis community into greater social acceptance. While we highlight the therapeutic properties of cannabis, as a business we hope to demonstrate that our growth will be synonymous with positive community impact in tax revenue, job creation, and social responsibility.
